Our economies are driving inequality and environmental devastation.

Reclaim the Economy Week is a chance to unite to demand an economy that
puts people and planet first.

Public surveys tell us that people around the world are hungry for action on inequality and the environment. We want to amplify this to create unstoppable momentum for change.

Reclaim the economy week is a new unbranded global moment for us to unite to demand economies that put people and planet first.

Wellbeing Economy Alliance and Earth4All have teamed up to organise the week of action. Our dream is to ignite a highly decentralised and pluralistic annual week where all eyes are on redesigning our economies.

We invite you to use this moment of global solidarity in whatever way is most useful to you - bringing your own campaigns, messaging and perspectives -  whether that’s Indigenous economics, rights-based economics, degrowth, doughnuts, a wellbeing economy or whichever framing you use to talk about life-centric economies.

Frequently asked questions

  • Reclaim the economy week is a new annual week of action for people to unite to demand economies that put people and planet first.

  • You could organise an event for the week itself, help spread the word about the need for economic systems change or take political action. Our take part page is full of ideas and resources.

  • Wellbeing Economy Alliance and Earth4All have created the week in the hope it will serve everyone campaigning to redesign our economies in service of people and planet - whether that’s advocating for Indigenous economics, doughnut economics, degrowth, wellbeing economies or any other post-growth economic framework.

  • We envision economies that put people and planet first - where dignity, fairness, and ecological wellbeing replace narrow measures of success. This means redesigning our systems to ensure everyone has enough to live well, while restoring and protecting all life on Earth. By working together we can build resilient societies that thrive within planetary boundaries and create a flourishing future for generations to come.

There is no one-size-fits-all blueprint for what a good economy should look like - this should be locally rooted and co-created. So we will be showcasing the many alternative ways of providing for each other that are already being practiced around the world.

In the run up to the week we will develop campaign actions around co-created demands but we encourage people to bring their own asks and messaging to this moment and use it in whatever way is most useful in your context.

  • We will develop resources in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Please email frances@weall.org to be the first to find out when these are ready.
